Why We Need Reminders to Keep Living Fully
Every so often, we need reminders of why living our lives is so important. It’s so easy to get caught up in the daily news cycles spewing out some form of negativity by fear, panic, hatred, or division. We need these reminders to recenter us to aid us in raising the vibrations of the world. If your perspective on life is positive, then living life is not complicated at all and is quite simple in the grand scheme of things. If we remove fear and the need to control everything, life will open up for you in ways you would have never imagined.
A Simple List That Holds More Meaning Than We Realize
Today’s post is about the 6 things in life that are worth living for. I’m sure there are millions of things that could be added to this list, but I wanted to try to narrow it down with a theme of words that will cover everything in life that holds value and meaning. Also, I’ve realized that when you experience anything on this list at the highest quality, it shifts something inside of you that leaves you feeling good and at peace. Life is simple, or it can be simple; it is our trauma and negativity that can make it complex. Let’s start with what I believe to be the most important on our list.
1. Creativity: The Outlet That Keeps You Sane
Anyone who takes the bold chance of betting on themselves by following their dreams knows that creativity is vital to their existence. For my journey, I realized I needed to have some type of creative outlet to keep my sanity in check. When I go back and reflect on the times that were chaotic for me, I realize it was due to my not creating. So if you don’t have a creative outlet by now, please search for one. The moment after you finish creating feels like a dopamine hit mixed in with a feeling of being so proud of yourself. It will boost your confidence, and your self-esteem will benefit in ways that will help you be a better person. Once you find a specific outlet that works for you, protect it with your life. Don’t monetize it if you don’t feel the need to. Keep it fun. If you need creative outlet ideas or somewhere to start, I’ve played around with videography, writing fictional stories, taking fun pictures, drawing/painting, sewing, making bracelets, gardening, and the list goes on. The ones that had an impact on me were videography & writing. I’ve decided to focus my time there to see where it takes me because those two outlets bring me the most joy.

2. Following Joy: A Shortcut to Your Soul’s Calling
Anyone who takes the bold chance of betting on themselves by following their dreams knows that creativity is vital to their existence. When you follow what brings you the most joy, you get one step closer to your soul’s calling.

3. Travel: Leaving Your Comfort Zone Changes Everything
My first trip on an airplane was the scariest and exhilarating experience I’ve ever had. I trusted two strangers with my life by flying me in the sky going hundreds of miles per hour. Before that trip, I made it a point to control every detail in my life, so I had a lot of anxiety stirring in me once we arrived at the airport. When we safely touched down in Miami, I quickly realized that everything was in my head. Millions of people travel every single day without incident. Most of the time, the pilots who fly airplanes are passionate about their career, and they know they were born to be pilots. Me being a Virgo that I am, I did some research on the amount of school and training pilots had to endure, and the result of the research was nothing but the utmost respect for their dedication. Roadtrips are another fun way of traveling that can often be overlooked due to the convince of traveling by plane. Most of the time, if you are going on a long road trip with someone, the memories will be everlasting, coupled with unique experiences such as running out of gas in the desert or getting a flat tire. I’ve been on quite a few road trips, and the reflection of the memories brings me so much joy that I’m ready to plan the next one. If you haven’t been on a road trip, please plan one with your friend or family, and if the plans make it out of the group chat, prepare to have the time of your life. No matter how you choose to travel, you are bound to make the best memories. Life is no fun when you choose to stay stagnant.

4. Community: The Village That Makes Life Better
Having a community, or a village, is vital to living a fulfilling life. When I first moved to Baltimore, MD, I wasn’t necessarily scared but a little nervous about what to expect. I was moving to a city where I did not know one soul, and at the time, I still was calling myself “shy.’ My neighbor, a few doors down, put a yellow sticky note on my door letting me know if I needed a handyman, and that he would be able to help me. After reviewing the note and discussing it with my parents, I took him up on his offer. And that turned out to be the best friendship I had there. He looked out for me and saved me a lot of money. When I became pregnant with my daughter, he would be the one who would go out and search for whatever craving I had. He was a true blessing. Over the months, I ended up getting to know my other neighbors, and next thing you know, I was a part of a nice little community that looked out for each other. Fast forward a few years, and later, I moved into an apartment, and months later, I ended up with some new neighbors. One of my new neighbors had such a gentle soul and offered to help me out at any chance he had. One of the things that touched my heart was that every time he took the trash out, he would knock on my door to grab mine. He helped me out with a lot of other things, and I am so grateful to have known him, even if it was for a short amount of time. I could go on about the many different people that make up my small community, but I will save that for a YouTube video. The point is we need to have a community and be a community to the people around us, it is our part of our human nature to form genuine connections, and we should not starve ourselves of that. Take the time to build those connections and watch the drastic change that happens in your life.

5. Good Food: A Form of Joy You Can Taste
What’s the point of life if we don’t have good food? And when I say good food, I mean healthy, savory, flavorful, and delicious food. None of the junk that is served at your local fast food chain. As I get older, my eating habits have changed drastically. I’ve traded in the unnecessary carbs and sugars for fruits/veggies, basically anything alive. I’ve never been a picky eater, I love to try out new foods; however, when I started to get intentional with what I put in my feed my body, things that were nasty before tasted wonderful! I’m at the part of my journey where I am now craving healthy food all of the time, and if I do pick up something artificially processed but my body instantly rejects it. I can quite literally taste the artificial. There’s so much good food out there in so many different cultures; there should be no reason why we are consuming anything artificial. I know where I live, a lot of people sell homemade few out of their homes, and it is some of the best food I’ve ever had. My favorite cultures of food are Mexican, Indian, asian, and of course, black. I find myself leaning toward Mexican cuisine lately, though. Food makes me happy in the best way possible. Food brings people together for a good time, catching up, or saying goodbye. Food is the catalyst for human interaction or a necessary solitude. Don’t be afraid to try new foods until you find the perfect comfort meal. Life is all about trying new things until you find what resonates with your soul.

6. Music: The Soundtrack of Earth’s Art
Music is the physical manifestation of what Art on planet Earth sounds like. You can’t escape music; you can go anywhere and hear a song playing. Music controls the energy of the room, and it can control your energy. Because music has so much power over our moods, we have to be intentional about what frequency and lyrics we are consuming. My latest obsession with music that brings calmness to me is classical music. There is a Baroque Essentials playlist on Apple Music that I’ve been enjoying, and it has helped me get more writing done and, surprisingly, given me a boost of energy on my morning 3+ mile walk. With so much negativity being pushed out to us daily, I am always looking for another tool to help me protect my energy or enhance it. I’ve been a lifelong fan of Hip-Hop, R&B, and some rap, but as I mature, it just doesn’t do anything for me anymore. It rarely puts me in a good mood, and it causes me to think about things that I have no business revisiting. Some songs bring out the energy in me, but they are mainly old school. Be intentional with what you allow your brain to consume because it does not know the difference between what is real and what is fake.
A Final Reminder: Joy Is Still Available to You
I hope this post resonates with you in some way that will allow you to see the beauty in what life has to offer us. Sometimes we forget about the simple things that have the potential to bring us the greatest joy, so let this post be a reminder that you have so much more beauty to discover in life. We have all been blessed with the opportunity to experience life on earth at this current time, and we should not waste any time in consuming it 🙂
