An Introductory Holiday Season Post

This post will be considered an introductory post to all things holidays. Every article written in the month of December will have something to do with the holiday season leading up to New Year’s. When trying to figure out what I wanted to write in detail I had to ask myself what makes the holidays so special? Before I get to the answer I would like to preface that I am a 31 year old millennial that grew up in the 90s early 2000s era. When I reflect back on the past I realized that even though there was flaws in our system it was still magical. I looked forward to the Christmas season every year because of all the light, snow, hot chocolate, and the classic holiday commercials. All of these memories have been burned into my memory and has helped create the person that I have become. 

Christmas Without Religion at the Center

When I compare my holiday experience with my peers or just reading other people’s stories online I realized that there was a difference in the experiences and my experience did not have the same center as what I was reading. That center was religion, I had and still have a basic understanding of what the true meaning of Christmas was but in my household religion was not the center. The center, for me, was magic and waiting for that Jolly red giant to drop off Christmas presents. As I got older I understood who the real Santa was but I still wanted to experience that same magic just without the fairytale character. 

What Christmas Magic Looks Like for Me

Christmas magic, for me, looks and feels like a real Christmas tree, hot chocolate, holiday movies, decorating the house, setting up lights, visiting family, and going to see festive lights in neighborhoods that coordinate together. And that is just a fe holiday traditions. When you combine all of these things together I feel the most myself, the happiest, and just vibrating so high that nothing can shake my spirit. Even as adult where I am not looking for the latest toys I still get excited for the holiday season because the experience is just so special. And now that I am a parent I get to relive some inner child memories because it is now up to me to create that same magical experience for my child. 

Where the Christmas Magic Really Comes From

So this year I asked my self where does that Christmas magic come from? and the simple answer is us humans. No matter how the idea of Christmas was started, even if it was rooted in religion, we have managed and evolved it to be an experience that is straight out of a story book if done correctly. The holiday movies that we have all grown to love over the years was created by humans in every part. That special hot chocolate drink with marshmallows you get came from a human that wanted to go the extra mile to put a smile on your face. Every single light decoration that we see during our commute home was designed and put up by a human that wanted the magic to be seen, not just felt. 

Humans Keep the Holiday Story Alive

If it wasn’t for the humans that take the time to maintain the magic and pass traditions down Earth would be a bland place to experience. Us humans have this magical touch that if done correctly can make you feel like an overweight man has reindeers fly him from every single house in the world in roughly 9 hours to deliver presents under a tree from the forest. Ha ha. Now I know there is an origin surrounding everything we celebrate but the point is that it is our touch that makes the story believable. 

How Traditions Have Evolved Into Something Bigger

Nowadays we may not celebrate in the traditional way that was started but we have evolved it into something that, dare I say, is better and makes everyone feel warm and fuzzy inside. Every year Mariah Carey sings one of the greatest Christmas song that was ever made and that signals us that it is time to start curating that magic. Christmas is not just a holiday for kids it’s for every adult that never wants to lose touch with the magic that comes with being a human. We all have an inner child inside of silently watching and observing the adult us move through life. And for me personally, the holiday season is where my inner child thrives and is free to reemerge to experience that magical feeling. 

Bringing the Magic to Life on Purpose

No matter how you celebrate or what you are celebrating, because everyone doesn’t celebrate Christmas, it is your job to be bring the magic of a good experience for yourself and whoever needs to experience it around you. We have seen in one of the most popular Christmas movie, scrooge that holiday magic can bring out the good even in the most meanest man. And let’s not forget that if we can create magic for the holidays then we can do that year round in all of personal and professional endeavors. We bring the meaning to inanimate things, we are the spark that keeps shining despite our surroundings. There is nothing that we can’t make into magic as long as we have good intention fueling us forward. 

Celebrating the Holidays Your Own Way

This holiday season don’t feel guilty for celebrating the way you want to celebrate, if it’s intentional and brings you genuine joy then there is nothing wrong with doing what works for you. We are all here to experience life that resonates with us the most. So for the entire month of December I am celebrating my love for the Christmas season by making sure all article posts are holiday inspired offering movie suggestions, things to do, thoughtful gifts ideas, and so much more but with a cosmic twist of course. We need to maintain the magic of the holiday season but also leave room for it to evolve into something better. Us humans are not expected to stay the same during our lifetimes so we should allow the same space for our magical traditions to have the chance to evolve into something better.

Creating Magic Even If You Don’t Have It Around You

If you don’t have Christmas magic around you due to circumstances beyond your control try to create it where every you are in your life because remember, the magic is within us. Every year we take our traditions and creative ideas and manifest them into our physical world. And if you have never experienced the magic that I am referring to then lean into social media to be inspired by what other people are curating. My favorite social media app that has the best Christmas magic is Pinterest. You can find years of holiday magic on there and different variety! Everyone celebrates in a different way and I love to be inspired by other people’s ideas. As the saying goes, take what resonates and leave the rest for someone else. Youtube is another great place because you can find old recordings of what the holidays use to be like in the 90s early 2000s. I like to watch those videos for obvious nostalgia reasons. The internet is huge and the world is even larger, find what feels good and then create your own magic!

The Cosmic Perspective of Christmas

So what is the Cosmic perspective of Christmas? Humans, we have the magic that make the holidays the holiday and that is something that will never be replaced.
