One of the biggest fears people have in life is making the wrong decision. We analyze choices, replay conversations in our heads, and imagine all the ways things could go wrong. But what if there is no such thing as a wrong decision—only different paths that lead to different lessons? Recently, I wrote a post about how we are the writers who wrote our life plan before we arrived on Earth. We mapped out every decision and detail, and then once we arrived, everything was forgotten. We then started our journey back to the highest version of ourselves. But in order to remember who you are, you have to go on this journey and experience these specific lessons so you can have a better understanding of yourself and how things work. We often believe that one wrong decision will ruin everything if we are not certain of the outcome. Have you ever stopped and thought that if you did in fact design your own life plan, why would you steer yourself in the wrong direction?
Why We Fear Making the Wrong Decision
Perfection is something that society has been quietly pressured into achieving. No one will ever outright say “you have to do it perfectly” or “It’s perfection or nothing else,” but it’s felt when you do (or don’t do) something perfectly. Our society was formed with perfection at the forefront of the mind, and that is why we have so many humans accomplishing things almost the same way (For the most part). That programming has subconsciously set the bar for our personal lives to perfection, and when we don’t hit it, shame starts to rear its ugly head. Regret is something else that fuels the fear behind decision-making. No one wants to feel like they are being left out of something when they are unhappy with their own inner world. If you do have the thought of taking a different path, the fear of being an outcast will be waiting for you at the beginning of that path. But if you can get out of your head long enough and walk right past him, you will find that this was the way to go all along. It’s okay to want certainty in an uncertain world, but make sure your source of uncertainty comes from within and not externally.
What If Every Decision Leads to Growth?
What if God, Jesus Christ, and their alien assistant came down and personally told you that every intentional decision you make in your life will lead you to unimaginable growth as a soul, spirit, and human being? Decision-making wouldn’t be so hard if you received a certain answer externally. If I’m going to hear something like that, I want it to be from a higher source of that kind, but as a human right now, that is not possible in the way that we humans would expect it. But they, God along with everyone else, are trying to tell you through that in subtle ways so you can make every decision for yourself without external help. That is the whole point of becoming human. We have to trust ourselves enough to guide us through life, and know that there is no wrong decision because we are following a plan we made, and we also have the God spark within us to help us along the way. Why should he have to come down and tell us when he is already within us? We just have to trust ourselves enough to trust our journey. Every decision creates an experience. Every experience creates lessons, and the lessons shape us in who we become and eventually return to.
Why “Wrong Decisions” Often Become Turning Points
The last 5 years have been extremely transformative for me. In certain moments, I was faced with decisions that felt wrong after the results of the decision appeared. I was confused because normally I am good at making the “right” decisions. But now that I’m on the other side of the chaos, every decision I made was the right one. Each decision put me closer and closer to where I am supposed to be on a mental level. In some ways, I almost felt like it gave me a reset because it put me back in the same location that I started from. Never in my life would I have thought that I would be back at the beginning, but on my journey, I realized that it had to happen this way because I had to come back and observe with my new mind, new perspective, and leave once again the right way and on my terms. When I left the first time, I realized that I had packed my baggage too and brought it along the journey. Now I’ve unpacked and got rid of those bags slowing me down, and it is time to leave once again. My new career choice is one that I created from an idea in my mind and evolved into this physical; this website, my upcoming books, everything that makes my spirit twinkle and smile. I never would have made it this far if I had made a different decision in my past.
How Regret Changes When You See Life Differently
When I get to the other side of a challenge or an uncomfortable part of life, regret suddenly leaves my body. Instead, I’m filled with aha moments, relief, peacefulness, and pure joy. Now, something that I’m actively working on is, while going through uncomfortable changes, to remind myself of the light that is at the end of the tunnel. When I can find myself a calm moment, I like to ask myself, “What is the experience trying to teach me?” That question will ground me in the moment and remind me that this is all a part of the journey. I designed this, and I would never steer myself in the wrong direction or put myself in a scenario that I could not handle. Some people in society have gotten good at being able to recognize when someone is going through challenges and to continuously beat them down and reinforce negative beliefs. Sometimes, unwarranted advice is not malicious at first, but sometimes the person trying to help will give you advice based on their current situation and how far they’ve evolved. And that can be damaging because anyone who is trying to give you advice is not worth receiving advice from. There should be people around you who you are inspired by, not by advice that doesn’t fit the form of your life. When you realize that you are equipped with everything you need to have a purposeful life, regret is a word that no longer lives in your vocabulary. You know there is a bigger picture that you can’t see yet, but in the end, it will all make sense. When the dust settles after the storm, maybe you can ask yourself, “What did this experience teach me?”
Living Without The Fear Of Wrong Decisions
To live without fear, I believe, you have to detach from everything. Being fearful of making the wrong choice simply means that you are not rooted in the present. You are too worried about what will happen if you make a certain decision, when you should be worried about being fully focused on analyzing the situation so you can make the best decision. When you hyperfocus on the outcome, you will create new problems for yourself. Trust your intuition before you decide on anything. If you are aligned within and balanced in all the right ways, your intuition will 100% guide you where you are supposed to be. Focus on growing rather than achieving perfection. Perfection can never be obtained in this lifetime from anyone, so you might as well focus on something you can achieve. When you start focusing on growth, you have to make sure you are able to identify the patterns in your life. Patterns will be the main reason you achieve growth.
Final Thoughts
Maybe the goal of life isn’t to avoid mistakes, but to learn from every path we take. We shouldn’t be so hard on ourselves. We are here to learn, have fun, make mistakes, learn some more, evolve, and then some more we’re unaware of. I’ve learned to lighten up and go with the flow of life. If we keep life intentional, then everything else will work itself out.
